Fun Friday

I'm so thankful for the safety of my family and friends back home after the tornadoes that have destroyed parts of Alabama.

To say that I was freaking out 2 nights ago, would be a huge understatement. Please pray for those who have lost loved ones or has suffered severe damage due to these storms. Also, please pray for the safe return of those who are still missing.

On a happier note, I am having a blast in the Bahamas. It's been windy the last couple of days, but it's actually kind of nice since it is scorching.

Yesterday, we spent hours at the beach. I had so much fun playing in the ocean with the kids. Posey is not scared of anything and the boys definitely outdid me while surfing the waves, without surfboards. I lost the battle against some waves and had to say goodbye to a new pair of sunglasses. One down, 3 to go.
Last night, we rode over to Eleuthera on a friend's boat and walked around the island, watching the sunset. It was incredible. Here are some pics.

I also got to see Lenny Kravitz boat. Maybe I will get to meet him.

Today is Friday!! I'm starting it out as usual, with a cup of coffee. I bought a new coffee mug at the airport and I'm in love.

I'm taking a quick break from Harry Potter to read this...

I'm in a Lauren Conrad craze right now. Happy Friday friends!!!

What I'm loving Wednesday

{one}
I'm loving this sweet little face.

I missed her while I was home. She is at such a fun age. She is such a sweetie pie!

{two}
I'm loving Harbour Island.

{three}
I'm loving the weather, the sun, and the pool time!!!

{four}
I'm loving that I've had a chance to touch base with the Fam. It makes me feel not so disconnected from them. I'm also loving that I am getting this chance to blog so they feel connected with me as well. I miss them so much already, but we will keep in touch pretty regularly.

Please forgive the lameness of what I'm loving today (apart from the family thing). I just got here so its a nice change from the New York weather.

Just for fun, here are some pics from my Alabama visit.

I hope you are all having a lovely humpday. Happy middle of the week!

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters
{one}
I was scheduled to leave this morning for the Bahamas. After a series of unfortunate events, I was unable to make my flight. Literally, I was freaking out. After making billions of phone calls and getting 50 different solutions, I was told to go back to the airport and talk to the manger. In 5 seconds, he changed my whole day. He booked me for a flight tomorrow, free or charge because it was essentially their mistake. Huge relief!!

{two}
Once relief set in, I was really excited to have an extra day to see my family!
My sister, her 2 little ones, Candace, her 2 little ones, and I went to the zoo after lunch and had such a great time walking around and enjoying the 70 degree weather.

Then I rode with Jenn and the girls to meet the rest of my family at my niece's soccer game. She played so well and even assisted a goal.

Little Blakely enjoying the weather and all the loving she was getting.

{three}
I have to wake up at 4 am again tomorrow. I'm going to be so exhausted!!

{four}
I started Harry Potter and I'm so excited to read the series.

{five}
I saw Water for Elephants this weekend!!

It was amazing!!!

Spring Fever Challenge
Life's Journey with a Smile

Question One: What have you done this past week to help you achieve
your goals?
1. I continue to eat more fruit. I eat at least one piece a day, but usually more.
2. I have been keeping on track with the c25k program. I am starting week 3.
3. I am drinking 1 liter of water a day...and drinking less coke. I have been down to just one a day.
4. I am remembering to take my vitamins each day.
5. I am also getting lots of rest. One night this week, I was asleep at 8 and another night at 9.
6. So about that saving money goal...I have not been too good this week. I went to TJ Maxx this week and racked up. Oopsie. I have got to stay out of that store. I am planning on doing a post all by itself sometime this week about my budget and my plan to spend less money. Be on the look out for it.

Question 2: What did you do this past week to make you feel good about yourself?
I bought a bath pillow which makes my baths so much more pleasurable. I hate putting my neck against the cold tub. I spent a lot of time outside this past week. It makes me so happy to have warmer weather.
I also had a nice, relaxing weekend around my cottage. This was much needed, and very enjoyable.
I also spent Friday night watching Tangled with the kids. It was precious!! I highly recommend it.

Question 3: Is your mindset future-oriented or living in the now? How does this impact you when you are working towards a goal?
A little bit of both. My big motivator for me right now, besides you guys of course, is the fact that I will be living in a swimsuit for 3 months while I am in the Bahamas. I want to be comfortable and enjoy being in my own skin. On the other hand, I want these goals to become a part of my life for the long run. I want to continue these goals until they become a part of my every day life and then make new ones that will challenge me to be even healthier.

Question 4: Is there someone in your {real} life that inspires you to strive for the best?
Lots of people inspire me, but my current boss plays a big part in all of this. She has 4 kids, rarely works out, and is in better shape then I have probably ever been in. She eats very healthy, drinks a lot of water, and stays active. I am hoping her habits rub off on me more and more.

Question 5: Do you read blogs on the individual websites or via Google Reader?
Individual websites.

BFF's in NYC

So I mentioned that my best friend, Heather, is coming to visit me this coming up weekend. I am so incredibly excited, but I need some ideas of things to show her in NYC. I have only been a few times and seen the major touristy things. i.e. Central Park, Rockefeller Center, Empire State Building, Madison Square, and 5th Avenue. So if any of you readers have been to the city and would like to give some suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. I have done tons of research, real-life advice would be so much better.

I would love to do some museums, but there are so many to choose from.
I am also planning on taking her on the ferry to see the Statue of Liberty. I haven't done this yet so I am super excited.

I also have the greatest surprise ever for her when she arrives, so I can't announce it on the blog just yet. You will just have to wait and see.

We are going to take NYC, Sex and the City style.

Thanks in advance.

Happy Sunday!!

Randomness

I cannot move today.

I planned to go to the gym yesterday to do my c25k at 5 and then hit up yoga at 6. Didn't go as planned... I had messed up the times and yoga was at 5. Oopsie. I had my heart set on doing a class so that I could swim during lap swim at 7:30 so I took the only one that was available during this time....BOOT CAMP. It was a great class, but I am definitely feeling it today.

It was TRX boot camp which uses suspension. It was soo hard.

Today, 2 of the 3 boys are sick with the stomach flu. NOT GOOD. I think it is going around. Let's hope the other 2 kiddos don't catch it.

I am thinking about signing up for a mini triatholon this Sunday at my gym. Should I do it? I have always wanted to do one and this would be a great starting place.

I love the contestants on American Idol this season. I seriously don't want any of them to be kicked off. It's going to be a sad night for one of them.

Countdowns begin...

7 days until HEATHER gets here!!

14 days until I go home to visit my fam!!!

18 days until the BAHAMAS!

Happy almost weekend friends. Have a wonderfully happy day!

A Day without Shoes

Today, I will blog barefoot. I will not wear shoes to the gym, or to pick up the boys from school, or on any other errand I might run. I will try to imagine not having even a single pair of shoes. I will try to imagine walking on gravel times a thousand, and I still won't feel the pain that individuals all around the world experience every day. It's hard to imagine shoes as a luxury, but so many people do without.

As I was getting in my car this morning, my mind was going ninety to nothing.
- What if I get pulled over? It's illegal to drive without shoes.
-What if the club won't let me in to workout without shoes?
-What if Zumba requires shoes?
-What if it rains?
-What if I get sick because it is cold out today?

I feel guilty for even having these thoughts. These adults, and even kids, work harder then I could ever imagine and many have never even owned a pair of shoes.

Please join in to raise awareness about individuals who have no shoes. Visit this website for more information.

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

{one}
Life's Journey with a Smile

1. What are your goals for the Spring Fever Challenge?
Goal 1- Save money. I recently went a little crazy spending so I want to create a budget and be more aware of where I am spending my money. I've used mint.com before and I highly recommend it.

Goal 2- Get into shape. This goal kind of goes along with my 101. This month starts my month-long tasks of taking a vitamin daily, eating 1 piece of fruit everyday, and drinking 1 liter of water a day.

Goal 3- Lose 5 to 10 pounds. I don't know how, but it needs to happen.

Goal 4- Complete the coach to 5k program.

Goal 5- Get more sleep! Try to be in bed by 10 every night during the week. Sleep plays a very important role in your overall health and this is definitely something I'm missing.

2. Why did you choose them?
I'm getting to the age where every decision I make, affects my health. I love fast food and I love soda....they are my enemies. If I could shake these 2 habits, there is no doubt in my mind that I would be in great shape. I'm determined to beat the battle against Mcdonalds and coke starting now!!

3. What is your plan of action to make them happen?
I hope to replace these habits with healthier ones.

4. What does this challenge mean to you?
I am hoping to be held more accountable for my decisions. Growing up, I could always eat whatever I wanted and drink coke all day long, but its so unhealthy and it's starting to show.

5. Fun Question of the Week: Let's get to know each other! What is something most people (er... fellow bloggers) don't know about you?
I sleep with a squishy pillow every night

And
I have a heart-shaped freckle/birthmark on my cheek.

{two}
I just booked my next flight home!! I'm really excited to spend Easter with my family!!!

{three}
One of my favorite gals is coming to visit me in 10 days!!!!

{four}
Tomorrow is barefoot blogging!!!
