Spring Fever Challenge
Life's Journey with a Smile

Question One: What have you done this past week to help you achieve
your goals?
1. I continue to eat more fruit. I eat at least one piece a day, but usually more.
2. I have been keeping on track with the c25k program. I am starting week 3.
3. I am drinking 1 liter of water a day...and drinking less coke. I have been down to just one a day.
4. I am remembering to take my vitamins each day.
5. I am also getting lots of rest. One night this week, I was asleep at 8 and another night at 9.
6. So about that saving money goal...I have not been too good this week. I went to TJ Maxx this week and racked up. Oopsie. I have got to stay out of that store. I am planning on doing a post all by itself sometime this week about my budget and my plan to spend less money. Be on the look out for it.

Question 2: What did you do this past week to make you feel good about yourself?
I bought a bath pillow which makes my baths so much more pleasurable. I hate putting my neck against the cold tub. I spent a lot of time outside this past week. It makes me so happy to have warmer weather.
I also had a nice, relaxing weekend around my cottage. This was much needed, and very enjoyable.
I also spent Friday night watching Tangled with the kids. It was precious!! I highly recommend it.

Question 3: Is your mindset future-oriented or living in the now? How does this impact you when you are working towards a goal?
A little bit of both. My big motivator for me right now, besides you guys of course, is the fact that I will be living in a swimsuit for 3 months while I am in the Bahamas. I want to be comfortable and enjoy being in my own skin. On the other hand, I want these goals to become a part of my life for the long run. I want to continue these goals until they become a part of my every day life and then make new ones that will challenge me to be even healthier.

Question 4: Is there someone in your {real} life that inspires you to strive for the best?
Lots of people inspire me, but my current boss plays a big part in all of this. She has 4 kids, rarely works out, and is in better shape then I have probably ever been in. She eats very healthy, drinks a lot of water, and stays active. I am hoping her habits rub off on me more and more.

Question 5: Do you read blogs on the individual websites or via Google Reader?
Individual websites.

Miscellany Monday

Life's Journey with a Smile

1. What are your goals for the Spring Fever Challenge?
Goal 1- Save money. I recently went a little crazy spending so I want to create a budget and be more aware of where I am spending my money. I've used mint.com before and I highly recommend it.

Goal 2- Get into shape. This goal kind of goes along with my 101. This month starts my month-long tasks of taking a vitamin daily, eating 1 piece of fruit everyday, and drinking 1 liter of water a day.

Goal 3- Lose 5 to 10 pounds. I don't know how, but it needs to happen.

Goal 4- Complete the coach to 5k program.

Goal 5- Get more sleep! Try to be in bed by 10 every night during the week. Sleep plays a very important role in your overall health and this is definitely something I'm missing.

2. Why did you choose them?
I'm getting to the age where every decision I make, affects my health. I love fast food and I love soda....they are my enemies. If I could shake these 2 habits, there is no doubt in my mind that I would be in great shape. I'm determined to beat the battle against Mcdonalds and coke starting now!!

3. What is your plan of action to make them happen?
I hope to replace these habits with healthier ones.

4. What does this challenge mean to you?
I am hoping to be held more accountable for my decisions. Growing up, I could always eat whatever I wanted and drink coke all day long, but its so unhealthy and it's starting to show.

5. Fun Question of the Week: Let's get to know each other! What is something most people (er... fellow bloggers) don't know about you?
I sleep with a squishy pillow every night

And
I have a heart-shaped freckle/birthmark on my cheek.

{two}
I just booked my next flight home!! I'm really excited to spend Easter with my family!!!

{three}
One of my favorite gals is coming to visit me in 10 days!!!!

Tomorrow is barefoot blogging!!!

Help raise awareness on the impact that a pair of shoes can have on a child's life.

April

I can't believe it is already April! So many exciting things are going on this month. I am participating in the spring fever challenge over at Amy's blog.

It's all about becoming a healthier, happier you. I will be linking up every Monday so come back and check it out.

I also began a few of my month-long tasks on my 101 yesterday.
1. Drink 1 liter of water everyday for 90 days. (3 month-task)

2. Take a multivitamin everyday for a month.

Be healthy.
Be beautiful.
Be wholesome.

3. Last, but not least. Eat at least one piece of fruit everyday for a month.

My thinking in making these tasks 30 days long (or longer) is usually it takes about that long to form or break a habit. I want these things to become habit for me so that I can become an overall healthier person.

I think living in the Bahamas for an extended period of time will really be the best thing for me as far as my health is concerned:
*McDonalds breakfast will no longer be a daily temptation for me.
*Fountain soda from fast food places will no longer for a staple in my everyday life.
*Running/working out and being active will be my life.
*Shopping won't be an option so I won't have to deal with the stress of spending too much money.
*tv is out of the question, as my guest house doesn't even have one. Instead of 30 minutes of tv before I go to bed, I will listen to my daily audio bible or read.

Overall, I think I will be forced to strive on the things that make me truly happy rather then getting mixed up in worldly distractions. I'm so excited to see how I change over the course of my time in the Bahamas.

On a different note, this month is Autism Awareness Month.

Autism affects 1 in 110 children.
1 in 70 boys.

Be a part of Autism Speaks and join in an event near you.

Happy Saturday lovies!! I'm getting my Saturday started a little late with a nice workout at my new gym with my favorite gal. Yah!

What I'm loving

1. I'm loving this event coming up.
Blogging Barefoot3

On April 5th, 2011, people all over the world will be going barefoot to raise awareness of the impact that a pair of shoes can have on a child's life. There will be organized walks & events that day - all in an effort to spread the word.

Many bloggers work from home, so it can be hard to really raise awareness just by going barefoot when nobody sees your feet except your family. So instead I challenge you to blog barefoot.

What You Can Do On April 5th...
Post a picture of your bare feet on your blog, along with the a Blogging Barefoot button (codes found here). You can blog about whatever you want, just add a picture of your toesies & link up.
Blog about this event before April 5th so that your readers can participate too.
Tweet, Facebook, and Scream From The Rooftops about this event over the next several weeks.

2. I'm so excited for the spring fever challenge coming up.
Check it out and join in the fun!!

3. 101 in 1001.

I'm so excited about the progress I'm making on my 101 in 1001.
Yesterday, I joined the gym, got a library card, and started couch to 5k.

4. I am so happy about some upcoming visitors!!! The details haven't been finalized so I'm not getting too exited yet, but I'm hoping for the best!!!

5. I'm loving my recent purchase of ITunes.
