Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

Sunday funday was a success, as always! It was
just such a relaxing day on the beach.

I grilled for the first time yesterday. I made hotdogs and hamburgers. Everyone ate them, so I guess that I did a
pretty good job.

Every Sunday night is a happening night for Valentines. Everyone goes there and they have a band. I wanted to play the tambourine so bad so I worked up the courage and played with them for a good 20 minutes. Haha. I attempted another instrument, but I'm not sure what it's called. It was so much fun!

Last night at dinner, I ate dolphin dip. It's not really dolphin. I guess it's a dolphin fish, but the point is that I ate it. I'm so proud of myself for trying new things. I liked it too!

Happy Memorial Day although the Bahamas Memorial Day isn't until June 3. I know everyone in the states is enjoying this holiday weekend.

Happy Mingling!!!

Tropical Thursday

Today is the day. I want to remember every single thing I can about this island. I'm seriously living the dream here. There are so many details that I'm afraid I'll forget if I don't document it. So I've dedicated Thursday as the day that I will write about the island and things that I want to remember.
Today, I'm going to share the history of a cool little haunted house.

I've only been to the mansion once, but it quickly became one of my favorite places. It's so peaceful. Newlyweds bought the house in the 1940's, but the wife became ill so they left to get her medical treatment and never returned.

Over the years, the house remained empty due to it's history and was then termed haunted. It was even burned.

The house is now a a great tourist site and has even been used for weddings.

Miss Universe

I think the place is absolutely amazing!!
It's also been used for big parties. I would love to have a party there. Speaking of parties, today is thirsty Thursday!
Today's drink...Goombay Smash, preferably frozen!!

If you like rum, pineapple and coconut, this drink might be for you.

Goombay Smash Recipe

Ice cubes
6 tablespoons pineapple juice
1/4 cup orange juice
1/4 cup Malibu rum or other coconut-flavored rum
2 tablespoons light rum
2 tablespoons gold rum
2 tablespoons dark rum
2 pineapple wedges
2 orange slices

Fill cocktail shaker with ice; add pineapple juice, orange juice, and all rum. Cover and shake until very cold. Fill 2 short glasses with ice. Strain cocktail mixture over, dividing equally. Garnish with pineapple wedges and orange slices. Raise glass and toast.

Happy almost Friday blog friends!!

What I'm loving Wednesday

I found my phone!!!!! Thank goodness because I literally spent 5 hours on the phone Monday trying to order a new one. It wasn't going to happen because of privacy policies. I was almost in tears until I got the call that my phone had been turned in.

I'm loving that the new season of the Bachelorette started. I was a fan of Ashley's during Brad's season of The Bachelor and I'm really excited to watch the first episode.
I downloaded it yesterday and started watching some last night. Looks like it's gonna be a good season.

I'm loving that Bear and I had such a special night on Monday. It's definitely in the running for one of the best dates that I've been on. Haha!!

I'm loving skulls right now. There is a cute store on the island called Sugar Mill and they have skull things galore.

I'm loving my new snorkeling gear!!!

I really really love that it's nap time for Posey and for myself.
Happy Wednesday friends!!!

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

I lost my phone. Major bummer. I just got it last summer and it
was basically like new.
Bye Bye iphone 4.

I had a fantastic day on the boat yesterday. The boat. The beach. The water. The snorkeling. The grilling. The company. Everything was perfect.

Bear and I have a date tonight. He is the 7 year old that I take care of. He has been begging to have a sleepover with me so tonight is the night. I am planning to take him to dinner at my favorite place, Valentines Marina. It's so nice to sit outside, watch the sunset, and see all the boats in the marina.
Then we will come back to my humble little cottage to watch Water Horse and get to bed early, which is really excited for me.

Today, I had my first Mountain Dew since I arrived
in the Bahamas. It tasted delicious!!

I procrastinated for so long to plan my trip home during June that now I can't afford. I'm super bummed, but that will make seeing them in September that much more exciting. It's been almost a month since I have seen them and I usually see them once a month.
I am missing them so much, but like I said before...What doesn't kill me will only make me stronger.

Happy Mingling bloggy friends!

Tropical Thursday

There are so many cool and unique things about the island. I have decided to have tropical Thursday every week to share and remember the cool things about Harbour Island.

So my cool fact this week is that golf carts are the way to get around.
Everyone drives golf carts. I love it!
Some people do have cars, but from what I hear it is mostly just to make a statement. I think it's a bit unnecessary.
My family, in addition to the golf cart, also has a mini moke. It's adorable and absolutely necessary with such a big family.
So there is my cool fact for the day. I'm also linking up for thirsty Thursday because it fits with my tropical Thursday theme.

Today, I am thirsty for this...
Sweet tea on a hot day...can't beat it!!

Happy Thursday!!!
